AM Taxi = Bullshit.

Fuck it, I knew something wasn’t right: I kept seeing AM Taxi everywhere, and hearing them everywhere, and wondering all the while, “Who the fuck are these fake-ass Gaslight Anthem fucks? Where the fuck did they come from? How did they gain mainstream acceptance so fast?” And now I get it: the lame fucks from Lucky Boys Confusion, the same lame fucks that tried for years and years to gain mainstream acceptance, finally got really desperate and formed a fake Gaslight Anthem once The 59 Sound started growing some legs.
Well, fuck me if this isn’t the fakest fucking thing I’ve ever heard of. What makes it even worse is that we gave a spotlight to AM Taxi a couple months ago, when their shitty PR company emailed us asking if we could “preview” the album for all of their fans. It’s my bad for not doing my research, I’ll own up to that – I thought we were doing a favor for an up-and-coming local band. Was I out of the loop? Absolutely. Was it my own fault? Certainly.
I would like to apologize to any regular readers of Assault.it. that clicked through that garbage. I’ve had email arguments with Tim that lasted days about whether these guys were valid, and there was always just something a little bit off that I couldn’t articulate. And now I understand, perfectly. This is a bullshit marketing move by a bunch of fucking pop-punk has-beens that couldn’t even make it on the sad, tired Warped Tour.
Fuck AM Taxi. Fuck any blog that promotes them while ignoring real Chicago bands like Welcome To Ashley and Jonny Rumble. And fuck their stupid fucking record label for being so fucking stupid.
AM Taxi is a fake band, created specifically to ride the Gaslight Anthem’s glorious coattails. Fuck ‘em.

oswald, tell us how you really feel.
Oswald, while your oh-so-eloquent tirade holds about as much worth to me as a handful of steaming
dog shit, I would be remiss not to point out a few areas where you make yourself sound like an
idiot who really shouldn’t be trusted to “review” music.
“…finally got really desperate and formed a fake Gaslight Anthem once The 59 Sound started
growing some legs.” “AM Taxi is a fake band, created specifically to ride the Gaslight Anthem’s
glorious coattails.”
This is not even really worth delving into, it is so far beyond stupid. A band that writes and creates
their own music is fake? A band that was formed in May of 2007 was created to copy a song that
wasn’t released until sometime in 2008? Fact-checking goes a long way, sweetpea. I can’t even
deal with your implication that they’re ripping off Gaslight Anthem. Both are talented, individual bands.
Also, you imply that because this band contains members of another recognized band, that they
can’t be “up and coming.” In case you haven’t noticed, bands are rather frequently created from
members of other bands. In this case, two members of Lucky Boys Confusion (who still exist), not
including the LBC frontman, became members of a new band with a sound vastly different from
LBC. They forged their own way, wrote their own music, and things fell into place.
Have you seen a live AM Taxi show? I sincerely doubt it. If you had, you would see the skill that
each musician possesses. Am I fan of AM Taxi? Clearly. If I wasn’t, would I still have read your
post and thought you sounded like a petulant child with no real skill in reviewing music? Absolutely.
It’s always nice to meet somebody so passionate about music, but this was a joke. Look around the site a bit and you’ll see that we take music very seriously. And we’re also pretty good at writing about it! Thanks for your comment.
I’m with Michele.
I’m with Coco.
And FINALLY we write a plant piece.
Glad AM Taxi got it at least.
A better headline for the underage Assault.it readers would have been AM Taxi=Poop which may have worked better in the long run.
