Video: The Roots – Dear God 2.0

Hey, the Roots are back! And they’re covering a Monsters of Folk song! Pretty weird, right? Not really. You get some Jim James upfront, singing the chorus of the original song, in kind of a Flava Flav capacity – hyping the crowd for the main event, which is Black Thought dropping some of his usual “bad shit happens” science. Personally I like the Roots a lot better in “straight up banging” mode, but this isn’t bad, per se – just a little “blah.” My feeling is, you’ll enjoy it. The track is from the Roots’ new album, How I Got Over, which hits stores today.
