Video Roundup (6/17/10)

This is like MTV on your computer – it’s a bunch of music videos!

OK Go – “End Love”
Whattaya know? It’s OK Go, with a wacky new video. I’ve been surprised with how much I enjoy the songs from their latest CD, Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky, considering I never liked any of their songs before. But it seems like they’ve gotten a little more sophisticated and dark-ish with their songwriting. Yet they’re still making wacky videos. Personally I think the shit is played out, but people seem to love it. To wit:

Cate Le Bon – “Shoeing The Bones”
I was made aware of this via a press release, and that press release said I could give you guys an mp3 of this song. Here it is.
This record (which is called Me Oh My) is garnering some pretty serious acclaim from noted “indie tastemakers” like Pitchfork. I haven’t heard it yet, but I have watched the video for “Shoeing the Bones,” and I think you’ll like it. (There’s animals in it!)

Hey Champ – “Neverest” (NSFW)
Yes, you read that right, this video is not safe for work. It features ladies with dolphin boobs, or something. Can’t really figure it out, don’t really care to. Pretty decent track though – I would’ve paid attention if these guys weren’t trying to shock me w/ dolphin boobs. (Did I mention you shouldn’t really watch this at work?)

Against Me! – “I Was A Teenage Anarchist”
I know what you’re thinking: “Wasn’t Oswald just talking shit about this shit the other day when he reviewed White Crosses?”
Yeah, I sure was. But a funny thing happened: I started to get really pumped whenever I’d play it in my car. And the thing is, Tom Gabel wrote this song just to instigate, and I appreciate that – I really thought, from interviews that guy gave over the last few years, that he wanted people to leave him alone and stop talking so much shit. But this song makes it seem like he really, really wants you to talk shit. So now I don’t feel so bad about talking so much shit the other day, and I really love this track, even though I was never a teenage anarchist.

And that concludes this week’s video roundup! I’m sure PR folks will email me about new videos next week, and we can all get together again and look at the shiny stuff on the computer screen!
